Phone woes continue for EE customers

Telecoms provider EE is no closer to solving signal problems in BS7 - six months after removing a phone mast in Horfield.

Customers flooded EE's Community Helpline with complaints about not being able to use their phones after the company was forced to remove the mast from a building near Elm Road that was being redeveloped.

An alternative site for a new mast was found to be unsuitable. Gloucester Road News understands that EE is still no closer to finding a replacement location.

The phone mast was removed from the vicinity of Elm Road

That's in contrast to a post on the company's Community Helpline which states: "We have located another area and our engineers have submitted designs as part of the planning process. Pending a positive outcome from the designs, we will arrange a date access the area to complete surveys to make sure the area will be suitable for the equipment."

Once a site is found, a formal application would have to be made to planners at Bristol City Council - a process which could take months.

It's not just domestic EE customers who are affected - businesses are reporting that they are having problems accepting card payments.

One business customer wrote on the helpline: "This issue is impacting the small businesses on Gloucester Road who use EE to provide card payments.  There is much waving of phones around to try and pick up a signal.  I still have no coverage on my road which is weird being pretty central in Bristol. "
