Plans outlined for more pedestrian crossings
Outline plans for two new pedestrian crossings on Gloucester Road are being considered by the City Council. They're part of a package of measures in BS7 aimed at improving road safety.
One of the crossings would be sited between the old Co-Op building and the Di Meo Italian restaurant. The other would be further north, close to Daltons butchers. Other proposals include upgrading the existing crossing at the Nevil Road junction by raising the road surface and introducing traffic calming measures on Church Road and Downend Road.

The plans - costed at £500,000 - are before the council's Area Committee 2, which deals with matters in Bishopston and Ashley Down. Funding would come from the Community Interest Levy, a tax paid by developers as a contribution to local projects.
Approval of the outline plans is subject to a further decision in September.
