The phones won’t be ringing in parts of Horfield after service provider EE removed a signal mast and failed to install a replacement.

Customers have flooded EE’s community helpline with complaints about not being able to use their phones and having no wi-fi signal. In response, the company says it has no timeline for when the fault will be fixed.

In an online statement, EE says “Our mast in the area had to be removed from the existing site in December 2025, as the building is being redeveloped.

“We located an area for the new mast; however, after conducting extensive surveys we found the area would not be suitable. We have located another area and our engineers have submitted designs as part of the planning process.”

That could mean a delay of months if any formal planning application is subject to the normal consultation process.

In the meantime, EE is advising customers in Horfield to enable wi-fi calling by changing phone settings.

That will be of small comfort to people like Kelly, who reported: “I am completely offline through EE. I don’t have any internet or phone signal. I have had to buy a separate SIM on a different network just to get internet so I can connect to my TV.”
