Drinkers take a shine to The Two Suns
Gloucester Road's newest pub

Managers at The Two Suns say they're pleased with their first official weekend of business. Gloucester Road's newest pub opened to the public last Friday following a soft-launch evening to butter up social media influencers.

The venue is the latest venture for Bristol's fast-growing Guerrilla Pubs empire which now has a dozen drinking establishments including locally The Sportsman and The Annexe. But unlike the latter it has no cask ales, aiming at a younger clientele with less interest in real ale.

The Two Suns is offering a burger-based food menu shared with other pubs in the group. Several new huge TVs have been installed to screen major sporting events, while a quiz night is planned for Mondays and an open mic night on Thursdays.

Previously The Cider Press, the pub's name references two other businesses formerly at the premises: The Sun Valley Restaurant which was a fixture for more than 20 years from the 1970s, and the Rising Sun. This was the first pub at the site when it opened in the noughties before becoming The Cider Press in 2012.
